Inexpensive Teeth Whitening for the Holidays

As a dental hygienist, one of the more popular questions I get is about teeth whitening. "I want my teeth to look white. How do I bleach my teeth?" There are many solutions, but right now I'm thinking of some easier, faster and less expensive options! Especially when both time and money are non-existent during the holidays!

Crest 3D White

Easiest & most simplistic option is Crest 3D White mouth rinse! When used consistently & correctly you will see the best results! I recommend before you drink your morning coffee. The mouth rinse contains glycerin which prevents tooth stain from even attaching to the tooth surface from the beginning. It has contains hydrogen peroxide which is the active ingredient in most teeth whitening products! Basically, over time, rinsing with Crest 3D white both morning & night, will actually lighten your tooth color by one shade of white! Don't believe me, try it!

Opalescence Go

Fast & less expensive whitening would be the Opalescence Go disposable bleach trays. They can be found online or at a dental office. You will love the ease of these trays, they are a one time use with no mess. They give you an almost custom look for less than half the price! Within 15-20 minutes your teeth will look a shade or two lighter! When used more frequently you will see the best results!

I love bleaching, but it has its downside too. While it looks amazing and feels okay, it actually can cause a transient sensitivity.  When my patients report sensitivity I tell them to use a sensitive toothpaste a couple of days before, during and after bleaching! It is not a cure-all, but it definitely helps!
