Let Me Introduce You to Alex Marshall Studios

From the moment I stepped into Alex Marshall Studios I realized two things. First, Alex Marshall studios is one of the hippest joints in town. And second, not all ceramics are created equal. This moment was a bit of an epiphany. Well the first didn’t really shock me once I met Alex Marshall herself. When you meet Alex you completely understand why the vibe is so groovy. She is an enigmatic artist, a powerhouse who appears to be managing no less than a dozen thoughts at the same time. I have always been fascinated by the minds of artists. There is a whimsy and intention in everything she does. It is breathtaking to witness. That character makes itself known throughout her work, from the ceramics she makes to the studio space itself.

It was the second realization that got me. I always thought my Pier 1 Imports (may they rest in peace) plates were fabulous: white, plain, went with everything—perfect. That was no longer the case after I took one look inside this artist’s shrine. As it turns out, my Pier 1 plates are just fine, but not fabulous. The way I discovered this was by seeing and holding Alex Marshall’s ceramics. Her plates are better than fine—they are amazing pieces of art. They are unlike anything I have ever held in my hands. I was first impressed by the stand-alone beauty of each individual piece, the form, the originality. But it was when I picked up and held one of Alex Marshall’s plates that I became aware of the real difference. I was astonished by the feel, the weight, and the hand-made sophistication of each ceramic piece along with the unique glazing that only an artist could create. When I turned over the plate I saw Alex’s signature, something she does on every piece she makes—by hand—to let you know it personally has her stamp of approval. This is art.

From the day I met Alex and her husband Andrew, there was an instant connection and a shared love for the ceramics that they fashion.

I have always loved white plates and platters, so when I place my orders with Alex it is usually understood that the glaze will be some variation of white.

Let me share with you some of the beautiful pieces I have purchased from Alex Marshall Studios and a few that I hope to purchase in the near future. Remember for a limited time only Alex Marshall Studios is extending a 20% discount to all of my followers with the code: “courtney20”
